This video shows how the University of Michigan 3D Lab is using the Kinect to augment our existing tracking system to provide full body tracking and gestural support for navigation. Using the FAAST software from University of Southern California we can map gestures to keys which in turn are fed into our in-house engine for navigating through a virtual environment. For head tracking we are still using a Vicon system due to the stability and accuracy. Something the Kinect does not yet provide.
